Public Service Commission and the University of Nairobi have committed to work together in transforming the institution into a World-class learning institution. This emerged during a luncheon between the University Chancellor Prof. Patrick Verkooijen, Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama and the Commission board at the Serena hotel, Nairobi on 24th April 2024.

Speaking at the luncheon, PSC Commissioner Dr. Reuben Chirchir urged the UON leadership to work collaboratively with other universities in fostering market-fit education in the country.

“To achieve the dream of making UON and specifically Kenya as an academic hub, then we have to carry everyone along, “ said Dr. Chirchir.

While acknowledging the need to work with all stakeholders, the UON Chancellor noted that the University is already exploring areas of partnerships with multinationals such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank.

“We’re in the process of re-positioning the University of Nairobi into an academic hub not only in the region but globally. And this can only be achieved if we move as a team and of course with local and international stakeholders,” said Prof. Patrick

PSC board and the University of Nairobi leadership agreed to plan future engagements to explore areas of collaboration.

Also in attendance were, PSC Commissioners; Dr. Mary Mwiandi, Amb. Salma Ahmed. Ag. Commission Secretary Mr. Remmy Mulati and a few members of the secretariat.
